Alexandria Rugby & O'Connell's Restuarant
Donate $1000 to Miracle League of Alexandria
On March 17th, Alexandria Rugby volunteers braved the elements at O'Connell's Restaurant (jubilant Welsh fans, mainly) to raise money for the Miracle League of Alexandria. Being the last round of our annual 6 Nations Youth Rugby Fundraiser, and having met our targeted fundraising goals for the youth program over the previous four rounds of the tournament, we turned our attention to another very worthy cause in our community.
The Miracle League of Alexandria is a public/private partnership with a unique mission, "to provide an accessible, fun and attractive environment for individuals with special needs and others to enjoy outdoor sports activities." We believe this mission matches well with rugby's proud tradition of ensuring that all who want to play get the chance to play. In rugby we form another side and hold another match to make sure everyone gets to play. The Miracle League is building a state of the art turf field so that all who want to play have the opportunity to play. We're excited to be able to help them achieve this goal.
