Youth rugby in Alexandria is jointly administered by Alexandria Rugby and the city's Department of Parks and Recreation for boys and girls ages 6 to 14. The game played is a non-contact form of rugby that focuses on fun, fitness, and skill building while promoting the concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship.
The season runs during June, July and early August with practices held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in two locations:
Games are played on some Thursday evenings in lieu of practice and on some Saturday mornings.
Registration is open starting March 15 and extends through the season. Visit the Rec. Department's website for more information or contact AR's U-15 program director, Owen Malone. There is a nominal fee of $20.00 that helps cover the cost of uniforms, trophies and administration.
Youth rugby is a fun and safe way of introducing our youth to the sport. More information about youth rugby can be found on the USA Rugby website, the governing body for the sport in the United States.
